Unattended ground sensor systems

Seismic intrusion detectionfor critical perimeters.

StrataSense designs and manufactures battery-powered wireless geophone networks that detect, localise and visually verify perimeter intrusions — developed with Bharat Electronics and now in field trials with Indian Oil Corporation and the Border Security Force.

01 — DETECT

Seismic detection at the node.

Each geophone node continuously samples ground vibration, discriminating footsteps, vehicle movement and digging from ambient noise. Nodes operate up to three years on a single battery, with no trenching or cabling.

02 — LOCALISE

Localisation across the mesh.

Events propagate peer-to-peer across neighbouring nodes to the gateway. The command application resolves the triggering node and segment — giving response teams a precise location rather than a zone alarm.

GROUND PLANESEGMENTNODE 04-CCLASS: FOOTFALL · CONF 0.91
03 — VERIFY

Autonomous visual verification.

The triggering node wakes the nearest thermal imaging camera. It captures the scene, estimates the bearing of movement, and transmits both over the same low-power network — with no operator in the loop.

System architecture

One integrated detection chain.

Wireless sensing where deployments need to scale quickly, wired chains where a fixed high-density line is required — with a common command and verification layer across both.

01

Wireless sensor node

Geophone-based seismic node with peer-to-peer radio meshing.
Deploys along a fence line or open ground without trenching or external power. Nodes self-form a mesh and relay events toward the gateway.

Wired sensor chain

Cabled geophone array for permanent, high-density perimeters.
A fixed installation with no radio dependency, engineered for sites that require maximum sensor density and deterministic communication.

Command & analytics application

Segment-level localisation and event classification.
Resolves which node triggered, classifies the disturbance, and presents a live operational picture of the perimeter to the response team.

Thermal verification camera

Battery-powered imaging triggered by the sensor layer.
Remains dormant until cued by a geophone event, then captures thermal imagery and the bearing of movement — returned over the same low-power network.

From first prototype to public trials.

Two years of continuous engineering, shaped by evaluation cycles with one of India's principal defence electronics manufacturers.

Jul 2024

Company founded

StrataSense Technologies is incorporated with a single engineering objective: perimeter detection that deploys without trenching, cabling or mains power.

H2 2024 — Q1 2025

First-generation prototype

Seven months of development produce our first coin-sized seismic tracker — the proof that low-power geophone sensing could be packaged at this scale — delivered to Bharat Electronics for evaluation.

2025

Evaluation with Bharat Electronics

The prototype completes an extended field evaluation cycle with BEL. In parallel, we engineer a substantially more sensitive second-generation sensor — the current platform — through continuous iteration on BEL's feedback.

Public field trials

Trials open with Indian Oil Corporation, the Border Security Force and enterprise perimeter operators — moving the platform from evaluation into operational settings.

Proven where a missed alarm isn't an option.

StrataSense hardware has been evaluated and fielded with organisations whose operating environments test for precisely the failure modes perimeter security cannot afford.
